Newberry Jonesville Festivals

Newberry Main Street's Annual  Community Unity Day - Each Spring- Seaboard Road and Newberry Road - An annual festival celebrating the Community Unity, and small-town living, including music, food, fun, vendors, entertainers,  and more.    To learn more about the festival, information on volunteering, or a vendor booth, visit http://NewberryMainStreet.org or call 352-514-4996. 

 Newberry's Annual  Watermelon Festival - Each May - Cantebury Equestrian Showplace.  Seed spitting contests, beauty pageants and pie baking contests are just some of the activities at the oldest running watermelon festival in the country.  Locally grown watermelons are provided to all participants for free, and the festival recently added other nightly activities such as the Hospice Rodeo to it's list of attractions.  For more information on volunteering, a vendor booth, or on the festival itself go to http://newberrywatermelonfestival.com, or call 352-316-6628

 Newberry Main Street's Annual  Fall Market Festival - Each October- Seaboard Road and Newberry Road - An annual festival celebrating the American way of life, and small-town living, including music, food, fun, vendors, entertainers, an annual barbecue contest, and more.  To learn more about the festival, information on volunteering, or a vendor booth, visit http://NewberryMainStreet.org or call 352-514-4996. 

 Newberry Main Street Annual Holiday Lights Contest and Festival of Lights - Each Nov - Dec. -  Downtown Newberry, Newberry Road - The lights contest runs through the week of Thanksgiving, and then on the 1st Thursday after Thanksgiving is the judging of those lights.  Local merchants will be open late, sharing goodies, Santa and Mrs. Clause in the pocket park visiting with the kids, and the community comes out to enjoy the season, and the lights.  There will be a objective panel of judges to decide on the business lights of those entered into the contest, and the winner will ride with our Mayor up front in our Annual Holiday Parade.  To learn more about the festival, or information on volunteering, visit http://NewberryMainStreet.org or call 352-514-4996. 

Newberry's Annual Christmas Parade - Each December - Downtown area - Traditionally the third Saturday in December, this parade features our Watermelon Queen, local school floats, and local businesses, as well as many local organizations.  It's quite the sight to see !

Backyard Barbecues' Annual Fireworks Display  - Each September  - Newberry Sports Complex - Booths and local community faire and fireworks brought to you by Rocky's Newberry Backyard Barbecue.  See his website at :  www.backyardbarbq.com/ for more information. 

Annual Lion Club Farm Toy Show - Each February - Oakview Middle School -

Cane Day at Dudley Farm State Park - Each December  - The First Saturday each December - This is the annual Cane Grinding and commemoration of Miss Myrtle Dudley's birthday. This event continues the farm family tradition of grinding sugar cane and boiling cane syrup, making this a unique old-time community gathering. Visitors can tour the farm and see other traditional activities and craft demonstrations or enjoy a wagon ride. Syrup and farm products are sold on this day.
